The Isle of Calypso, a unique island which forms a part of the Maltese archipelago and lies at the centre of the Mediterranean. Gozo or Ghawdex (pronounced “au-desch”), is the Maltese name for the beautiful island, which has quite a different personality from Malta. It is approximately 14.5km long and approximately 7.5km wide, with a shore line of 43km and a population of around 28,000.

The island of Gozo is situated 25 minutes away from Malta and is accessible via ferry boat or sea-plane.

Places to visit

Victoria (Rabat)

Gozo's pleasant capital was renamed Victoria by the British in honour of the Queen's diamond jubilee in 1887, but Gozitans still use the Arabic name of Rabat. The 'hub' of activity on most mornings is the market square, It-Tokk (Meeting Place).
